New IPCC report: Impacts of Climate Change.

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has just released its report on the impacts of climate change (“Impacts. Adaptation and Vulnerability”. To find the report on the IPCC website, click on “Download this summary for policy makers”).

An earlier report by the IPCC this past February gave the consensus scientific evidence for climate change, and the role of humans in this change. The current report gives the likely consequences (i.e., who is likely to pay and how): including floods, drought, food-shortages, etc. It includes an analysis of both human-economic effects, and effects on biodiversity. It is not an uplifting document….The New York Times headline on this report is that “Emissions are already affecting climate”, while the Washington Post-AP headlines “US, China Got Climate Warnings Toned Down”. Grist blogs on this report as well.
